A new month provides an opportunity for a fresh beginning, allowing for a reset of priorities and a focus on what is truly important. After engaging with real-life challenges and personal goals last month, this month will concentrate on writing blogs, conducting research, self-reflection, and learning through practical experience while still supporting MekaRetreats and Rokx Studio with their needs. Additionally, I will seek other challenges to enhance my growth. I am confident that these activities establish a solid foundation for development. In this 'blog', I'd like to specify the strategy behind resetting these priorities and the shift of focus.

Reflecting on last month’s challenges
Last month involved setting up two real-life challenges along with two personal challenges. Having just returned from my internship in Jamaica, it was a balancing act to manage everything. These tasks were meant to push limits and encourage stepping out of comfort zones, and they certainly did. Everything felt rushed, leaving me without time to sit down and contemplate what had happened and my future direction. During a week off from school and social life in Maastricht, I reconnected with myself and reflected on these experiences, helping to identify what was successful and what could be improved. It also underscored the importance of balancing external actions with internal growth. This reflection lays the groundwork for the new month's focus on writing and research.
Writing blogs as a tool for learning
In the upcoming month, the focus will shift more towards writing blogs. This endeavor is not just about sharing thoughts; it serves as a way to deepen understanding and convey ideas effectively. Writing about a topic compels the organization of thoughts, thorough research of facts, and presentation of information in an understandable manner.
But where to start? How to conduct research? How to gather everything into a blog?
First, it would be beneficial to look at current projects and select topics that spark curiosity or relate to recent experiences. Next, breaking down complex ideas into simple, digestible parts will be essential. Utilizing storytelling can help connect with readers and make the content memorable. Additionally, establishing a regular writing schedule will ensure consistency. It is also important to review and rewrite concepts to improve clarity and flow.
Regular writing sharpens communication skills and fosters critical thinking, both of which are essential for academic success and personal growth.
Conducting research to expand knowledge
For me, conducting research is a powerful way to learn beyond the confines of textbooks. It allows me to seek out reliable sources, compare different viewpoints, and synthesize information to develop my own understanding. This month, I’m committing to dedicating time to research, which will help deepen my knowledge on subjects that genuinely interest me or topics I encounter in school.
To make my research effective, I plan to follow these practical steps: first, defining clear questions or goals before diving in and putting the focus on using reputable sources, such as academic journals, books, and trusted websites. Taking organized notes will be crucial for tracking important points and references and summarize these findings in my own words to reinforce my learning. Finally, I’ll share these insights through writing or discussions, which will help solidify my understanding even further.

The power of self-reflection
Since I embarked on my internship journey, I've taken the time to journal in a physical booklet. This practice has become a valuable part of my routine, where I not only document my feelings but also outline my to-do lists. Some days, I pour my thoughts out in detail, while on others, I keep it brief and to the point. As I look ahead to the upcoming month, I am eager to explore journaling more deeply. I aim to uncover the reasons behind its benefits and to reflect on various aspects of my experiences.
This month, I've realized that dedicating time to self-reflection can significantly aid in identifying my strengths, areas for improvement, and core personal values.
Engaging in self-reflection not only promotes emotional intelligence but also helps maintain my motivation throughout this learning journey. I look forward to seeing how this practice will enhance my personal and professional growth in the coming weeks.
Learning by doing
Currently, I am involved in six different projects: MekaRetreats, Rokx Studio, WVP de Pettelaer, Between the Lines, and the Bucket List Project. These projects are designed for learning purposes, not as a checklist. My aim is to gain insights through continuous reflection and learning. Project descriptions can be found on the 'Project'-page of this website.
The learning objectives for all these projects include enhancing my project management skills by managing multiple initiatives at once, gaining a deeper understanding of teamwork and collaboration by working with diverse groups, improving my problem-solving abilities by tackling real-world challenges and finding effective solutions, fostering creativity and innovation by trying out new ideas and methods in each project, and reflecting on my experiences to identify lessons learned and areas for personal growth.
Setting clear intentions for the month
As the upcoming month is filled with activities, I feel that it's important to adopt a structured approach that resonates with these activities. In that case, I would like to focus on:
Identifying my unique focus areas: By reflecting on what truly matters. Whether it's honing the writing skills, diving deeper into research, engaging in self-reflection, or applying my knowledge in practical ways.
Breaking it down: Just like doing research, it would be smart to, for each focus area, divide it into smaller, achievable goals that feel manageable and less overwhelming.
Schedule time: Allocate dedicated time blocks in my week for each activity, prioritizing what aligns with passions and interests.
Track the progress: Keeping a journal or using an app to document my journey, celebrating those small victories that motivate me to keep going.
Embrace flexibility: As life can be a bit unpredictable, I'd like to be and stay open to adjusting my goals along the way.
For more details about the projects, individuals can visit the project page. I anticipate an increasing number of blog posts on specific topics, though I'm still uncertain about the direction they will take.
